Abstract

The research aimed to shed light on the study of the relationship between national foreign trade in general and agricultural foreign trade in particular during the period (2000-2020), the results showed that the volume of national foreign trade reached its lowest value of about 65.0 billion LE during the year 2000, while it reached a maximum of about 1988.6 billion LE during the year 2018, with a general average of about 647.4 billion LE. The results indicated that the volume of agricultural foreign trade reached its lowest level in 2001 at a value of about 12.7 billion LE, while it reached its maximum in 2019 at a value of about 144.5 billion LE, with an overall average of about 55.4 billion LE. The results indicated that the general average rates of national dependency and coverage were about 23.1% and 45.0%, respectively, and the general average rates of agricultural dependency and coverage were about 17.2% and 84.2%, respectively. By examining the most important factors influencing the rate of dependence, it was found that reducing the rate of agricultural dependence in Egypt depends mainly on achieving an increase in the value of agricultural exports, the average propensity to export, a decrease in the value of agricultural imports, and the rate of agricultural net exchange.
