Abstract

The research aims, in general, to shed light on the reality of the unemployment crisis and the economic indicators associated with this crisis in Egypt, by measuring the social and economic effects of unemployment on Egyptian society. The problem of the research is that the available labor force has become greater than the available job opportunities, which has left many of the members of society without jobs, which leads to the problem of unemployment, so the research discusses whether the unemployment rate affects the economic and social aspects. The results of the research showed that the total number of unemployed people in Egypt reached its maximum at about 17,830 million people in 2001, while it reached Its minimum was about 2,136 million people in 2007, and it reached about 2,170 million people in 2021, with an average of about 4,890 million people, during the period (2000-2021). It was also found that the total number of unemployed people in Egypt decreases annually by a statistically significant amount, amounting to about 447.3 thousand people, representing about 5.9% of the general average of the total number of unemployed people in Egypt, during the study period. The study recommends the necessity of working to provide job opportunities for the unemployed so that this does not cause They have obstacles, whether economic, social, or psychological illnesses.
