PYRIMIDINETHIONES AS BUILDING BLOCKS IN HETEROCYCLIC SYNTHESIS: SYNTHESIS OF PYRANO[2,3-D]PYRIMIDINE, CHROMENO[2,3-D]PYRIMIDINE, PYRIDO[3',2':5,6]PYRANO[2,3-B]PYRIDINE AND PYRIMIDO[5',4':5,6]PYRANO[2,3-D]PYRIMIDINE

Abstract

A series of new thioxopyrimidine, 4H-pyrans, pyranopyridine and pyranopyrimidine derivatives with expected biological activity have been prepared through the reaction of 6-phenyl-2-thioxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidin-4(5H)-one 4 and 7-Amino-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-phenyl-2-thioxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carbonitrile 11b with some electrophilic reagents and nucleophilic reagents. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectral studies.
